Abstract
In this thesis I map out and explain some of the work I have been making, the thinking that has informed it and some themes that I consider to be important. Let me first set out the broader context within which, you, Kind Reader, can place my thesis. Taking on this MA course has allowed me to investigate a lifelong compulsion to be creative, which has taken many forms within music, sound and visual art. During the course, I have tried to learn how to become an artist that works consistently with a defined subject, medium and motivations, to articulate what it is I am doing and why. I have had to study my own nature, my internalized models for success and scattered attention, while opening up to the gestalt of social life and community being a necessary catalyst for sustaining art that resonates and breathes in the world.
