Abstract

A major part of my journey has been built around merging art and real life. I was born in the UK, spending much of my childhood romanticising the American SouthWest, fed by films, folklore and a Grandad whose home felt like a museum to all things Americana. My relationship with art from an early age was to indulge in those ideas of fantasy and escapism, picturing and creating my own ideas of those landscapes of desert and a ‘wild west’. Eventually I was able to follow my art and step into the world in which I had imagined by moving to Texas. This is the tale of that journey, an attempt at the unfolding of these facts, a reading of my own story, this is a true fairytale, where everything I write is what I feel to be real.
