Abstract

In this essay I analyse my painting process and approach to narrative and storytelling, exploring the autobiographical and feminist concerns of my practice. Additionally, I highlight my wish to slow the viewer down, and how I achieved this through surrealist world-building. I will situate my work within the context of key historical and contemporary artists, who also explore feminist issues in their work, spotlighting the artists that have been instrumental in helping me develop my visual language.
